Slow-Cooked Beef & Onion Gravy Pie

Slow-Cooked Beef & Onion Gravy Pie

Ingredients (serves 4–6):

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 800g diced beef chuck or gravy beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 sachet Gourmet Granny’s Tasty Onion Gravy
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten (for brushing)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Method:

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan. Brown the beef, then set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté onion and carrots until softened.
  3. Return beef to the pan. Stir through Gourmet Granny’s Tasty Onion Gravy mix and water. Simmer until beef is tender (or transfer to slow cooker for 3–4 hours).
  4. Spoon mixture into a pie dish.
  5. Lay puff pastry over the top, crimp edges, and brush with egg.
  6. Bake at 200°C for 20–25 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown.

Serve with peas or creamy mash.

Granny’s Tip: Make smaller individual pies for easy hand-held eats – perfect for passing around at footy finals parties.
